Aurora, CO (October 14, 2026) – SafeSplash Swim School, the nation's premier learn-to-swim and performance-based swim school, has reopened its Aurora, CO location at 512 S. Chambers Rd. under new local ownership, with a grand opening celebration planned for October 29.

For new owner Steven Wilkins, the reopening represents an opportunity to serve a new community through something that has been a deeply personal part of his life. After rescuing his sister from the Colorado River at age eight and later losing a family member in an open-water accident, Wilkins developed an enduring commitment to water safety. During six years of service in the U.S. Air Force, he served on Honor Guard while also managing pools and teaching swim lessons at Vandenberg and Edwards Air Force Bases in California.

“Water has been part of my life for a long time, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share what it has given me with the Aurora community,” Wilkins said. “Whether we’re introducing a baby to the water with a parent, celebrating a child’s first independent float, developing strong strokes, supporting an adaptive swimmer, or preparing someone for competitive swimming, we get to invest in that person’s journey. That’s a privilege.”

Wilkins brings years of aquatics and SafeSplash experience to the reopened Aurora location, with an emphasis on building a team that knows its swimmers, earns families’ trust, and celebrates progress at every stage.

“Steven’s connection to water safety is personal, and that shows in how he’s approaching this location,” said Chris Harkness, President of SafeSplash Swim School. “He’s exactly the kind of owner we want representing SafeSplash, and Aurora families are going to feel that difference right away.”

Aurora families are invited to the October 29 grand opening celebration, featuring a ribbon cutting, Kona Ice and participation from fellow Youth Enrichment Brands concepts. Wilkins also hopes to expand opportunities for adaptive aquatics and programming serving Aurora’s disability, veteran, adult and senior communities.

“Swimming can become so many things throughout a lifetime — a safety skill, a sport, a way to stay healthy, a place to build friendships, or an environment for movement and recovery,” Wilkins said.

SafeSplash Swim School focuses on building trust and confidence in beginners by fostering a supportive environment where students feel at ease. Each lesson at the new location is customized to meet individual needs, allowing participants to progress at their own pace while developing essential skills. By promoting a love for swimming and emphasizing water safety, SafeSplash prepares swimmers for a lifetime of fun in the water.
